Preparing the People
You’ll never guess what caught my eye in this passage where Zechariah listens to the angel prophesy about his future son—John the Baptist. It’s that part where he mentions that John’s ministry would turn the hearts of the fathers to their children. What an interesting concept to think about. It’s the idea that where the community of God’s people are walking with the Lord, there you will find fathers investing in their children’s spiritual future. This was necessary in John’s ministry to prepare people’s hearts for the ministry of Jesus. I don’t think it’s too far fetched to consider that when a community of fathers disregard their children’s spiritual well being, it is a sign that the fathers themselves are distant from the Lord.
As you know, Lakeside Bible Camp is a place where the gospel is proclaimed to young and old. It’s a place where we concern ourselves with the spiritual well-being of families. It’s a place that God uses to harvest decisions to follow Christ. It’s a place that is used for God’s children to be baptized and publicly proclaim their allegiance to Him.

So God, we pray for this coming year that you will bless the fruit of this ministry and give us another year that fills our hearts with joy because of what You accomplish through the volunteers and servants who give of their time, money, and prayers. We pray You will supply all our needs and prepare our hearts to praise You for what you bring about. Give us the faith to walk with you each day. Keep our attention on the spiritual needs of the next generation so they will continue to do the work of proclaiming the true gospel of Jesus Christ. Amen!
